We believe every child has the right to be safe, protected from harm, and supported to thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This policy outlines how we keep children safe, including our approach to in-person and online tuition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Principles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The welfare of the child is always paramount.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All children, regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or identity, have equal rights to protection from harm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We work in partnership with children, parents, carers, and other agencies to support welfare and wellbeing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Holly Bond is the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for\u00a0<em>The Tutoring Table Private Tutor<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Holds an enhanced DBS check (update service)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completes safeguarding training annually<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safeguarding Procedures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In-Person Tuition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Location and supervision:<\/strong>&nbsp;Lessons take place either 1:1 in a family home (in an open family space) or in small groups at a local venue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Group sessions:<\/strong>&nbsp;Maximum tutor-to-student ratio is 1:10, with Kate Scott as the sole adult present.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pick-up policy:<\/strong>&nbsp;Parents must nominate an authorised adult for collection. Children will only be released to this person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Online Tuition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Platform and security:<\/strong>&nbsp;Sessions are run via Zoom, using secure, password-protected links.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Student environment:<\/strong>&nbsp;Children must join from an open family space, not from a private room.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keeping Children Safe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will seek to keep children safe by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Valuing, listening to, and respecting them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Following safeguarding best practice through clear policies and a code of conduct<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implementing online safety measures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing training and supervision for safeguarding responsibilities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recording and storing information securely, in line with data protection guidance (<a href=\"https:\/\/ico.org.uk\/for-organisations\">ICO website<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensuring children and families know where to turn for help if they have a concern<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharing safeguarding concerns appropriately with relevant agencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing allegations against staff properly and promptly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintaining an anti-bullying environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Providing a safe physical environment that meets health and safety standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Building a culture of respect, openness, and trust<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recognising and Reporting Abuse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recognising Abuse<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect. Possible indicators may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unexplained injuries or inconsistent explanations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sudden changes in behaviour, withdrawal, or aggression<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Signs of neglect, such as poor hygiene or inappropriate clothing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disclosures from a child about abuse or mistreatment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reporting Concerns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a safeguarding concern arises:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Listen<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 to the child without judgment or making promises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Record<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 details accurately, including date, time, and facts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Report<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 the concern immediately to the local council\u2019s safeguarding team and the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Holly Bond, as DSL, is responsible for carrying out this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Holly Bond undertakes safeguarding training annually to ensure knowledge of current law and best practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Confidentiality and Information Sharing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All safeguarding matters are treated as confidential. Information is shared only on a need-to-know basis, in line with child protection requirements and data protection law.
